Fish & Chips, il primo festival italiano dedicato al cinema erotico

Appuntamento a Torino, dal 14 al 17 Gennaio 2016, con una selezione di corti e lungometraggi provenienti da tutta Europa. A fare da cornice all’evento, mostre e incontri a tema, con l’obiettivo di scoprire, attraverso varie forme espressive, i modi contemporanei di vivere e raccontare l’eros

C’è una nuova sfida made in Italy. Un nuovo percorso artistico-culturale intenzionato a rompere schemi e pregiudizi, pronto a stabilire una nuova e più evoluta relazione con l’espressione più naturale (spesso la più sofisticata) dell’indole umana: la sessualità. A Torino, il 2016 si apre all’insegna dell’erotismo. Dal 14 al 17 gennaio, il Cinema Massimo ospiterà

Fish&Chips Film Festival il primo festival italiano sul cinema erotico, quattro giorni in cui si potrà scoprire cosa di nuovo si produca in questo ambito, spesso rilegato negli ambienti underground, per una sana e critica riflessione sul tema. «È un progetto nato dalla passione per il grande schermo e dall’aver riscontrato come in vari paesi europei esistano da tempo appuntamenti fissi su cinema e sessualità, mentre in Italia il tema non è mai stato trattato con un evento dedicato», spiega Chiara Pellegrini, direttrice artistica del festival affiancata nel progetto dall’associazione Altera, un team di professionisti operativi nell’ambito dell’arte, della filosofia, del design e della comunicazione, un collettivo di talentuosi “thirtysomething”  che testimoniano una generazione di giovani curiosi, attenti alle novità e desiderosi di esplorare, andando oltre tabù e luoghi comuni, una sessualità di cui si ha sempre maggiore consapevolezza. «È la prima edizione, ed è una grande sfida!», commenta Pellegrini. Del resto, contemporanea e degna di nota è anche la scelta di ricorrere allo strumento del crowdfunding per finanziare il progetto.

Ispirandosi a rassegne europee simili, Fish&Chips darà spazio a film e a registi di tutto il mondo - qualitativamente rappresentativi, narrativamente eterogenei e capaci di andare oltre etichette e pregiudizi - che si sono cimentati con un genere e con tematiche non facili da trattare.
«Affrontare il sesso su grande schermo non è un'impresa facile. Siamo immersi in una società sovrastimolata da immagini e messaggi allusivi, ma che non tratta l'argomento nella sua accezione più profonda e intima, rimanendo spesso legata a stereotipi e tabù», evidenzia la direttrice artistica. «Proporremo documentari su BDSM e sesso estremo, anche per mostrare come certe “perversioni” siano parte della normalità e come, al contrario, possano addirittura rappresentare un aspetto costruttivo del modo in cui si vive l’erotismo. Si affronterà anche la tematica queer, la pornografia vista da un’ottica femminile e non si parlerà solo di quell’extreme sex a cui l’utente medio è abituato. Al termine della rassegna, ognuno potrà trarne le proprie conclusioni».

Sono tre le sezioni principali in cui è suddiviso il festival:

CONCORSO
La sezione che mira a proporre una produzione cinematografica di qualità, che trascenda gli approcci canonici. Le opere selezionate e presentate al pubblico sono le più curate artisticamente e con una visione originale su un mondo vasto e variegato che va dall’amore all’erotismo, alla pornografia.  In totale, alle selezioni concluse il 31 ottobre, sono stati presentati 197 cortometraggi e 25 lungometraggi. Fra questi, ne sono stati selezionati rispettivamente 30 e 11, che saranno proiettati durante i giorni del festival.

ICONE
Un tributo speciale sarà dedicato a Laura Antonelli, con la proiezione del film Malizia. L’attrice italiana, scomparsa di recente, negli anni ’70 fu un sex symbol mondiale oltre che interprete per registi come Luchino Visconti, Dino Risi, Ettore Scola. Altri omaggi al femminile, nel corso della rassegna, includeranno l'attrice, regista e produttrice statunitense Candida Royalle, con la proiezione del film Afrodite Superstar, nonché un appuntamento con la regista di adult movies Erika Lust e il suo XConfessions, il progetto cinematografico dedicato alle (vere) fantasie sessuali delle donne.

INCONTRI
Ad affiancare la produzione cinematografica ci saranno anche dibattiti mattutini, con ospiti di rilievo nazionale e internazionale, sul tema della pornografia e della post pornografia, dell’erotismo abbinato alla letteratura, alla filosofia, all’arte e anche alla disabilità, con riflessioni sul tema specifico dell’assistenza sessuale. In più mostre, letture e spettacoli di arti performative e ampio spazio dedicato alla sensibilizzazione su argomenti quali la prevenzione dalle malattie sessualmente trasmesse e la sessualità giovanile.

Ma l'Italia è pronta per un Festival di questo tipo?

«La sessualità fa parte della nostra quotidianità ed è importante avviare una riflessione collettiva che aiuti ad andare al di là dei classici stereotipi che la rappresentano. Quello che speriamo è quindi di poter aprire, attraverso l’espressione artistico-cinematografica, una piccola finestra sull’erotismo contemporaneo e sulle sfaccettature con cui viene trattato sul grande schermo e vissuto al giorno d’oggi».

Fish&Chips, the first Erotic Film Festival in Italy

Meeting in Turin, from 14 to 17 January 2016, with a selection of short and feature films from all over Europe. The event will also host exhibitions and talk shows with the aim to discover, through various forms of expression, the contemporary ways to live and tell sex

There is a new challenge for “made in Italy”. A new artistic and cultural way to break patterns and prejudices, in order to establish a more advanced relationship with the most natural expression (often the most sophisticated) of human behaviour: sexuality. In Turin, 2016 has started under the sign of eroticism. From 14 to 17 January, the Cinema Massimo area will host Fish&Chips Film Festival, the first Erotic Film Festival in Italy, four days in which you can discover the most interesting productions in this field, (often confined to the underground scene), and start a healthy and critical reflection upon it.
«It's a project born from a huge passion for the big screen and from having noticed that in many European countries there are a lot of events about cinema and sexuality, while in Italy the subject has never been treated with a dedicated appointment», explains Chiara Pellegrini, the Festival Art Director, who has been supported in this project by Altera, a team of professionals operating in the field of art, philosophy, design and communication, a collective formed by of a generation of talented young people, curious and eager to go beyond taboos and clichés and to explore a sexuality which has more and more awareness. «This is the first edition, and it is a great challenge», says Pellegrini. Very contemporary, and worthy of note, is also the team's decision to use the instrument of the crowdfunding to fund the project.

Inspired by similar European Festivals, The Fish&Chips project will show films and filmmakers, from around Europe, that have explored a genre and themes not easy to treat, to create works that are qualitatively representative, narratively diverse and able to go beyond labels and prejudices.
«Addressing sex on the big screen is not an easy task. We are immersed in a society which is overstimulated by images and alluding messages, but that does not present erotism in its most profound and intimate meaning, staying often linked to stereotypes and taboos», highlights the art director. «We will propose documentaries about BDSM and extreme sex, also to show how these kind of "perversions" are part of normality and how they can even be a constructive aspect of the way you live eroticism. The Fish&Chips Film Festival will also address the queer scene and pornography seen by a female perspective: not only that kind of extreme sex to which the average user is accustomed! At the end of the show, everyone can draw their own conclusions...».

The Erotic Film Festival is formed by three main sections:

CONTEST
The section aims to propose an high quality film production that transcends the canonical approaches. Selected works and presented to the public are the most artistically cured, and also showing an original and varied vision, ranging from love to eroticism, to pornography. At the selection, which ended last Oct. 31st, were presented 197 short films and 25 feature films. Among these, they were selected respectively 30 and 11 works, which will be screened during the festival days.

ICONS
A special tribute will be dedicated to Laura Antonelli, with the screening of the film Malizia. The italian actress, who died recently, in the '70s was a sex symbol, as well as interpreter for directors such as Luchino Visconti, Dino Risi and Ettore Scola. Other female tributes will include the actress, director and producer Candida Royalle, with the screening of the film Afrodite Superstar, and a meeting with the director of adult movies Erika Lust and her XConfessions, the movie project dedicated to sexual fantasies reveiled by women.

MEETINGS
Alongside the films there will also be talk shows, with national and international guests, about pornography and post pornography, eroticism mixed with literature, philosophy, art and even disability, with special discussions about sex assistance for disables. There will also be exhibitions, readings, art performances and rounde tables to raise awareness on topics such as prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and youth sexuality education.

Is Italy really ready for a kind of Festival like this?
«Sexuality is part of our daily lives and it is important starting a collective reflection which helps to go beyond the traditional stereotypes representing it. We hope to be able to open, through the cinema artistic language, a small window on eroticism and the contemporary ways though which it is lived and treated on the big screen, today».

Porno, adesso si cambia

Il porno è un discorso. Un discorso sulla sessualità, sulla mascolinità, sulla femminilità. Un discorso che - complice la Rete – sta diventando l’educazione sessuale di oggi. Per questo è giunto il momento che il porno cambi. All’ultima edizione del TEDx di Vienna, la regista di film hard Erika Lust spezza luoghi comuni, rivoluziona la visione degli adult movies, punta su un nuovo concetto di pornografia: femminile e responsabile

"Il sesso è una cosa sporca? Solo se fatto nel modo giusto". Se Woody Allen fosse stato una donna e avesse scelto di dirigere film per adulti, il suo nome sarebbe probabilmente stato Erika Lust.
Tra l'iconico cineasta statunitense e l'avanguardista regista svedese di adult movies la liaison è cerebrale, l’attenzione è per un’autentica visione psicologica (non solo fisica) della sessualità umana.
Ma cosa vuol dire, quindi “sesso fatto nel modo giusto”? Sicuramente un sesso appassionato, disinibito, divertente, curioso, sano, sincero. Nel modo in lo si vive e, soprattutto, nel modo in cui lo si rappresenta. Per Erika Lust raccontare il sesso in maniera esplicita ma autentica, vigorosa ma con una profonda riflessione psicologica, è ormai una mission.
«Sono passata dallo studiare Scienze Politiche e Studi di Genere in Svezia a essere una regista femminista di film per adulti a Barcellona. Gli ultimi 15 anni della mia vita sono stati un viaggio fantastico! Un viaggio fantastico dal sentirmi sporca e in colpa guardando il porno al creare il tipo di cinema per adulti che io voglio guardare».

L’ultima edizione del TEDx di Vienna - la “brain spa” dove ci si immerge in nuove idee ed esperienze - è stata per lei l’occasione giusta per lanciare un’attenta riflessione sugli adult movies, sulla loro impostazione e sul loro messaggio univoco e fuorviante rispetto alla realtà delle relazioni sessuali. Sulla possibilità, soprattutto, di voltare pagina e puntare a una nuova idea di pornografia. «Il porno non è soltanto porno. Il porno è un discorso. Un discorso sulla sessualità, sulla mascolinità, sulla femminilità e sul ruolo che abbiamo. E mi sono resa conto che gli unici a partecipare al discorso pornografico sono gli uomini».

Ovunque oggi si discute del ruolo della donna, tranne che nell’industria pornografica, evidenzia la regista originaria del primo paese al mondo ad aver reso obbligatoria l’educazione sessuale nelle scuole.
«Abbiamo bisogno di donne in ruoli dirigenziali. Abbiamo bisogno di donne produttrici, registe, sceneggiatrici. Abbiamo bisogno di donne dietro la telecamera. Ho capito che l’associazione con la parola “porno” è qualcosa di basso, scadente, sporco. Ma io volevo diventare una regista non una pornografa, una regista che esplora la bellezza del sesso da una prospettiva diversa: una prospettiva femminile».

E c’è di più. Perché non tutti sanno che una ricerca su quattro su Google punta al pornografico.
«Siete consapevoli del fatto che gli adolescenti - i nostri figli - guardano il porno on line prima ancora di avere esperienze sessuali? Il porno è l’educazione sessuale odierna e sta influenzando la nostra sessualità. E qual è la fonte di ispirazione dei nostri ragazzini? Un porno scadente, sbagliato, maschilista. Ecco perché è arrivato il momento che il porno cambi».

I contenuti per adulti hanno sì il potere di eccitare, ma anche quello di educare e ispirare. Per questo è fondamentale riflettere sulla qualità e sul messaggio che trasmettono.
«Credo fermamente che il compito della nostra generazione sia quello di riconsiderare il concetto di pornografia. Non fraintendetemi : il sesso può continuare a essere “sporco”. Ma i valori devono essere puliti».

A new way for porn

Porn is a discourse. A discourse about sexuality, masculinity and femininity. A discourse that - because of the Net - is becoming  today sex education. This is why it's time for porn to change. At the latest edition of TEDx in Vienna, the film director Erika Lust breaks clichés, revolutionizes the vision of adult movies, relies on a new concept of pornography: more feminine and responsible

“Is sex dirty? Only when it's being done right!" If Woody Allen was a woman who had chosen to direct adult movies, his name would probably be Erika Lust. The liaison between the iconic American film-maker and the avant-garde Swedish director of adult movies is the mind, and their study is a genuine psychological view (not just physical) about human sexuality. But what does it mean, "doing the right sex"? Definitely, it means doing a passionate, uninhibited, funny, curious, healthy, sincere sex. In the way you live, and in the way it is shown. For Erika Lust telling about sex in an explicitly but authentic way, in a vigorous way but with a deep psychological reflection, is a real mission. «I went from being astudying Political Science and Gender Studies graduated in Sweden to a feminist adult films director in Barcelona. The last 15 years of my life have been an amazing trip. An amazing journey from feeling dirty and guilty for watching porn to create an adult cinema that I want to watch».

The latest edition of TEDx Vienna - the "brain spa" where you can immerse in new ideas and experiences - has given her the opportunity to launch a careful reflection on adult movies, their setting and their unique and misleading message with respect to the real sexual relationships. The opportunity, above all, to turn the page and point to a new idea of pornography. «Porn is not just porn. Porn is a discourse. A discourse about sexuality, masculinity, femininity and about the role we play. I realized that the only ones that who participate in the discourse of pornoghaphy are men. Men with little less intelligence».

Everywhere the role of women is under debate, except in the porn industry: this is what the film director - born in the first country in the world to make sex mandatory in schools - highlights. «We need women in leadership role. We need women as producers, as directors, as screeptwriters. We need women behind the camera. I understand the association with the word "porn" is low, dirt, smut, low culture. But I wanted to become a filmmaker not a pornographer, a filmmaker exploring the beauty of sex from a different perspective: from a female perspective».

And there's more. Because very few know that every four search requests, one is someone googling for porn. «Are you aware that teenagers - our children - are watching porn on line before they even have sex? Porn is stoday sex education today and is impacting on a gender education. And what is our children' source of inspiration? Bag, wrong, sciovinistic sex. This is why it's time for porn to change».

Adult content has of course the power to arouse, but they have also to educate and inspire. This is why it is extremely important to reflect on the quality and the message that is going to be broadcasted. «I realized that  our generation's responsibility is reconsider pornography. Don't get me wrong: sex can stay dirty. But the values have to be clean».
